Exciting News from the Healing Touch Program

January 22, 2104

Healing Touch Certification (HTC) and Healing Touch Program are pleased to announce that the Healing Touch Certified Practitioner (HTCP) credential has become the first Energy Medicine profession to achieve accreditation through the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA), the accrediting body of the Institute for Credentialing Excellence (ICE). HTC is joining an elite group of certifying bodies dedicated to public protection and excellence in certification.

Now, all Healing Touch professionals who hold the Healing Touch Certified Practitioner (HTCP) credential through the Healing Touch Certification (HTC) can proudly say that their certification is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA), Washington, D.C.

To earn accreditation, the Healing Touch Certification (HTC) program underwent intensive review demonstrating compliance with the 21 standards set by NCCA for verifying professional competency. This evaluation considered every aspect of the HTC certification program, including: administrative procedures, job analysis, test development, test security, standard setting, eligibility criteria, board responsibilities, ongoing review of all policies and procedures, and verification of reliability and validity of the credential.

It is a milestone in the validation of the HTCP credential and practice to receive this designation from NCCA, a highly respected organization whose purpose is to promote excellence in competency assurance. As energy therapists, we are aware of the uphill struggle to receive recognition for the profession to which we dedicate our lives.  It is with great pleasure that we share this honor with all our Healing Touch practitioners who have contributed to the development of the HTCP credential.

The Wounded Healer

I talk about being a wounded healer when I teach class.  Often, people comment that they can’t imagine being a healer because of their own wounded past.

This 6 1/2 minute video is a “must-see” for anyone who has ever felt that way.  Please take the time to view it.  It is time well spent – I promise.

The Wounded Healer

“I AM ENOUGH” is one of my favorite affirmations.  As I am working on expanding my practice and my classes, working with Steve on meditation CDs, working to promote our music, learning to market, learning to make videos, and making sure I still have quality friend and family time, I can feel VERY overwhelmed.

I have learned that when I take a 1 minute “I AM ENOUGH” break, slow my breathing, focus on all that is right with me,  I remember it doesn’t all have to be done today or done perfectly, and I return to the place of joy that I want to be when learning/sharing/growing.  I know it sounds like a cliche, but I never want to be so busy that I miss the beauty that I am given every day.

I am choosing to do overwhlem differently this year – and that is where “I AM ENOUGH” comes in.  Any time I start to feel overwhelmed, less than, or really wound up, I am taking an “I AM ENOUGH” break and staying with it until I am back to center and my own true essence comes out and blesses me.  Then I can be a blessing to others.

Using Music to Extend the Benefits of Healing Touch and other Modalities

Music is a tool that is often used by Healing  Touch Practitioners and other energy workers, and can be a key component to a prolonged healing experience.  The use of sound as a healing force dates back thousands of years.  Research has shown the profound effect of music on reducing stress, lowering blood pressure, creating deep relaxation and inducing peaceful sleep.  In other words, when music speaks to us, the body listens.  Don Campell’s book, The Mozart Effect, Tapping the Power of music to Health the Body, Strengthen the Mind, and unlock the Creative Spirit, shows how modern science has begun to confirm this ancient wisdom, with evidence that listening to certain types of music can improve the quality of life in almost every aspect.

Music is played by most practitioners during a session.  Choosing long, slow, melodic pieces without words invites the client to float away on the music, which can help create a more relaxed body, so the energy work can go deeper with less effort.

This same music can be used to extend the benefits gained from the session.  Providing you (the client) the same music to use between sessions can act as a stimulus to help your body remember the healing experienced during the session.  According to Ted Andrews in his book Sacred Sounds, Magic & Healing Through Words & Music, “The more we are exposed to beneficial sounds, the greater and more permanent the effect they have upon our own individual energies.”

Hearing the same music can recreate the essence of the healing session, the mood, the feeling and the reflective place within.

A perfect self-care tool for you, as the client, is to purchase the same music to use between sessions.  You will be amazed at how your body will remember the relaxation response that took place during the session.

Setting Your Intention for the Day

When you wake up in the morning – you have a choice.  You can choose to take time to imagine the day ahead, and consciously describe how you want to experience it.  When you do this, you are partnering with your Creator/Spirit, letting Spirit know what you wish for in the day.  This is powerful use of intention.

Are you wondering if this really works?  An easy way to find out is to try it for a week.  Keep a journal of your choices.  Every morning for one week, write your daily descriptions down.  At the end of the day, take another look at your journal.  Did your desired day happen?  Did you come close?  Can you tell where you might have gotten off-track?

If you make this a daily practice, you will be amazed at how the energy will shift for you.
